PLAN 101 & Welcome

Eritrean & Ethiopian Get Out the Vote Community BBQ

Come get out the vote with us and engage with the Eritrean-Ethiopian community! We will be joined by Assemblyman Alexander Assefa. This is a great way for you and your family to safely cast your vote and be in community. We will have mustic, food, PPE and socially distance ourselves. Make sure to RSVP!

Environmental Justice Meeting

Join PLAN’s environmental justice team to get out the vote! Thursday from 5-6 we will host our monthly meeting and discuss why it's important to vote for people and planet. Environmental Justice Team Phonebank

Friday, October 30th from 3:00-5:00pm 

Feeling motivated? Join the day after the Environmental Justice meeting for a get out the vote phonebank. This is a great way to reach out to people in our communities and make sure as many of our voices are heard! No experience is necessary, training will be provided, and you can make calls through a third party number so you don’t have to worry about getting a bunch of return calls after the event. Register for both events here to receive Zoom meeting information.

How to Complete Your Ballot: Need help completing your ballot from home? Check out these videos from Jackie and Christine that show you step-by-step the ballot process for Washoe and Clark counties. 

New Report Release: PLAN, Political Research Associates, and Indivisible Northern Nevada released a report last week called  The Danger Within: Right-Wing Violence in Nevada, in order to draw attention to and denounce increasing far right and White supremacist violence in Nevada. You can read coverage about it here and hereHere is an article about the report translated into Spanish.

Eviction Moratorium: The CDC issued a national moratorium on most evictions for tenants impacted by COVID through December 31, 2020. You’re covered by the moratorium order if you:

  • Are unable to pay full rent due to loss of income or medical expenses
  • Make less than $99,000 in annual income or received a stimulus check
  • Would become homeless or have to live in crowded/substandard housing if evicted
  • Have tried to access government assistance for rent or housing
  • Have tried to make partial payments based on what you can afford

Donate to PLAN's Undocumented Emergency Relief Fund: Please donate to PLAN’s emergency relief fund for front line workers and families in Nevada who are not eligible for CARES or other COVID relief. The PLAN Citizenship Office will review applications and provide $300 to families at risk for eviction, food insecurity, and other hardships. If you have questions please contact ecastro@planevada.org or call 775-238-3416.
