Environmental Justice Monthly Meeting
This upcoming weekend is national public lands day, so we will be discussing issues and assumptions with these lands at our monthly meeting this Thursday at 5pm. We will be continuing the conversation we started during our September 8th “Whats the Tea,” and inviting an additional guest from the Center for Biological Diversity to discuss the destruction of Pinyon Juniper forests. Tiehm's Buckwheat: Tiehm’s Buckwheat only exists on one hillside in the entire world, and there is a proposed open pit mine that would decimate this species. Efforts are ongoing to protect this plant. However 40% of the plant appears to have been systematically destroyed. Read more here.
