Long Canyon to Suspend Permitting: Big news on protecting land and water! This week PLAN joined our partners in sending out a press release on Nevada Gold Mine’s decision to suspend expansion permitting at their Long Canyon Mine in Eastern NV. This mine would become one of the largest gold mines in the world in a time when gold prices are soaring due to COVID and the economic collapse. The expansion would meen pumping groundwater which would devastate a rare endemic fish, and destroy cultural land value that is important to the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute. Once again, the work of PLAN and our partners has shown that people power works, even when it is in contest with one of the world's richest mining corporations.
