I am a concerned Nevadan. Every Nevadan deserves to have a cool summer and warm one in the winter. Nevada has two of the fastest warming cities in the country, Las Vegas and Reno. In our state, electric power isn’t a luxury, it is a necessity to thrive for children, seniors, and everyday Nevadans. However, the community is being ignored by commissioners appointed by Governor Lombardo and Nevada Energy is being granted an increase to their profits despite their shading billing practices over the past two decades. This injustice cannot go unanswered. I ask you to hold the Public Utilities Commission and Nevada Energy accountable.

I am writing to you to take action on the Public Utilities Commission’s recent decision on Docket 25-02016 which upholds Nevada Energy’s request to increase its profits and an untested daily demand charge. The PUC agreed to increase Nevada Energy’s profits and defied recommendations from its own staff of engineers and economists and also every day Nevadans.

Nevada Energy is concerned with increasing their profits, not the well being of the community or accessibility to clean solar energy. It's clear that Nevada Energy’s goal is to increase shareholder value and will break trust with the community. Renters in older buildings will see higher bills. Nevadans with solar panels will see lower savings and our state will rely on more dirty energy. Small businesses will have higher operating costs. Families will see more surprise bills that are hard to budget for.

In a time when corporate greed is squeezing Nevadans’ budgets with rent, transportation, health insurance, now is the time for you to keep them accountable. This rate case will raise costs for renters, solar homeowners, and small businesses. Please stand up for Nevada families and challenge this decision.
