Your support is needed! The proposed Thacker Pass lithium mine in Northern Humboldt County was rushed through permitting under the previous administration's orders. As a result, much of the local communities of the Fort McDermitt Paiute Shoshone Tribe, Kings River Valley, and Quinn River Valley were either left out of the permitting process or have expressed concern without being listened to. In addition to problems with public outreach, the mine would likely devastate local water for hundreds of years and sensitive wildlife habitat including sage grouse.
By taking this action, a letter will be sent to the Department of the Interior urging Secretary Haaland to take action in support of the local community. You can send the form letter we have prepared, or can write in your own message. We at PLAN understand the urgency of the climate crisis. However, we can not continue to sacrifice communities against their will if we are to build a better future for all. Please take a moment to take this action in support of those who depend on this place as their home
